Today, I ran in the Middlesex Young Athletics League at Finsbury Park. It was an exciting day because I had been waiting for this race for a while. I was feeling a bit nervous before the race started, but I was also really excited to try my best. The weather was okay, and there were lots of other runners around getting ready to compete.
I was in the very first race of the day, which made me feel a bit more nervous. I had set myself a clear target before the run – I wanted to finish the race in under 2 minutes and 55 seconds. I knew it would be tough, but I believed I could do it if I gave it my all. As the race was about to begin, I took a deep breath and got ready at the starting line.
When the race started, I got a good position on the inside lane, which I was happy about. It helped me stay close to the front at the beginning. I tried to stay strong and keep a steady pace throughout the race. My pace was about 3 minutes and 44 seconds per kilometre, which was quite fast. Even though I felt tired, I kept pushing myself to reach my goal.
In the end, I finished the race in 2 minutes and 58 seconds. I was just three seconds slower than my target time. I felt a little bit disappointed because I really wanted to run under 2:55. But I also knew that I had tried my best, and sometimes that’s what matters most. It just means I’ll have to work a bit harder next time.
Overall, it was a good race and a great experience. I learned that even when things don’t go exactly as planned, I can still be proud of how I did. Next time, I’ll try to start a little quicker and push myself more in the middle of the race. I’m already looking forward to my next chance to beat my time!
