feeling excited because I wanted to see how fast I could finish the race. I had been training hard and trying my best to improve my running. I knew that getting a personal best would be amazing, but I did not know what time I would achieve.
I concentrated on maintaining my rhythm and staying focused throughout the race. Although I was determined to run quickly, I also knew I needed to manage my energy carefully so I could finish strongly.
When I crossed the finish line, I had completed the 5K, but I still did not know my official time. I was really excited to find out how I had done. I waited to see the result, wondering whether I had managed to get a new personal best. I hoped I had run faster than ever before, but I was not expecting just how happy I would be when I found out.
When I discovered that my time was 19 minutes and 45 seconds, I was over the moon! I could hardly believe it. I had achieved a brand-new personal best, and I was absolutely thrilled. Finishing a 5K in under 20 minutes felt like a huge achievement. All the training, effort and determination had paid off, and I felt incredibly proud of myself. It was one of those moments when you feel like all your hard work has been worth it.
My average pace was 3 minutes and 57 seconds per kilometre, which meant I was running each kilometre in less than four minutes. I was especially happy because I had managed to keep up such a fast pace over the whole 5K distance. Getting a personal best made me realise that I am improving and that I should keep believing in myself. It also made me feel excited about what I might be able to achieve in the future.
Overall, I had an amazing time at Battersea parkrun. I felt so happy and proud when I found out I had achieved a personal best of 19 minutes and 45 seconds. I will always remember how excited I was at that moment. This experience has shown me that I can achieve great things if I keep trying my best and never give up.
